The National Archive of Brazil and the archives of the portuguese language country community: relations with the digital universe

The article deals with initiatives and new forms of interaction and access in digital environment of the National Archives of Brazil. It aims to present how the institution fits into the context of the digital humanities, contextualize it in the universe of portuguese language national archives and present its digital resources, which enhance the browsing experience on its website. The elaboration of the work, with qualitative approach, happens by observation and comparison with other archives of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). Created in 1838, the Brazilian National Archives aims at the management, collection, technical processing, preservation and dissemination of the Brazilian documentary heritage. New technologies and new media have changed the way institutions of memory and the social and human sciences areas develop their work. With the implementation and diversification of services and products, it is intended to prove that the institution stands out among the portuguese language archives, which can make it a reference.
