This study has an exploratory character and presents a proposal of reflection for archivists and managers of archives and records management. We assume that there are few approaches that address archival specificities of private organizations. It demonstrates the work of International Standard Organization – ISO in the development of the most important standards concerning Archival Science. It presents and analyzes the methodology for implementing standards of ISO 30300 series. It concludes that the 30300 series standards framework can contribute for archivists to develop the capacity to act as archival information managers proposing governance solutions in private organizations. It also considers the cross-sectional perspective of the 30300 series standards and that goes beyond the borders of the Archival Science field to comply with governance procedures in private organizations. It suggests the publication of works such as experience reports and case studies to verify the efficiency of projects implementing ISO standards used in Brazil.
