Instagram metrics from state public archives in the Southeast Region: an experience report

Abstract

This article corresponds to an experience report and aims to present results from the Instagram analysis of the State Public Archives of the Southeast region using the Fanpage Karma tool. Methodologically, the research covers a period of six months, from November 2022 to April 2023, of analyzing the profiles of the mentioned Instagrans, using a paid version of the Fanpage Karma Analytics tool. From this instrument, different metrics are generated, in table and graphic form, including: number of followers, growth rate, absolute growth, interaction and engagement, among others. As a result, we first notice the number of categories and metrics formats that can be generated (in figure format, graphs, tables and others). Secondly, it is noteworthy that the study had an experimental nature and more than comparing the files studied, the potential of Fanpage Karma was seen for these institutions to analyze their social media, with the optimization of such resources being important.

Ronaldo Ferreira de Araújo, Universidade Federal de Alagoas, AL, Brasil

PhD in Information Science (2015) and Master in Information Science (2009) from the Graduate Program in Information Science at the School of Information Science of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He holds an undergraduate degree in Information Science (2006) from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC Minas). He was a visiting professor at the Department of Journalism and Communication Sciences at the University of Porto (2012). He is Adjunct Professor of the Library Science Course at the Institute of Humanities, Communication and Arts (ICHCA), Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL). Professor and Vice-Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI/UFAL) and Professor of the Graduate Program in Knowledge Management and Organization at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (PPG-GOC/UFMG). Leader of the Laboratory of Information Metrics Studies on the Web (Lab-iMetrics) and the Research Group on Information and Communication Policy and Technology (GPoliTICs). Researcher at the National Institute of Science & Technology in Digital Democracy (INCT-DD). Editor of the scientific journal Ciência da Informação em Revista. Ad Hoc Consultant for the Research Support Foundation of the State of Alagoas (FAPEAL).
